Offset father of 4 review
Drip or Drown 2 helps Gunna make his case to be apart of the XXL Freshman Class, awarded to upcoming artists in the genre. Using his slower rhymes talking about his rise to success and his current wealth, Gunna adds a diverse style to the rap genre. Rapper Gunna released Drip or Drown 2, and his first major project of the year does not disappoint. Overall, Offset’s Father of 4 is a solid album with great tracks all around. Six of the 16 songs are included in the top 100 rap/hip hop songs on Apple Music. Finally, Cardi B helps her husband on “Clout,” which calls out haters and gave shoutouts to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Quavo raps of their wealth during “On Fleek,” and Gucci Mane helps offset on “Quarter Milli,” which also features a Youtube music video. Travis Scott and 21 Savage hop on “Legacy” to talk about their status as well known celebrities in the genre. Offset got J Cole to rap on “How Did I Get Here” to help him chronicle the hard work both had to do in order to achieve success. It would not be a Migos album if there were not songs about the success and build up of the rappers. He reflects back on the crash by saying he feels sick when thinking back on what could have happened. He suffered many injuries after totaling his green Dodge Challenger. On “Red Room,” he talks about his near fatal car accident back in May of 2018. He gives his apology to his kids Jordan, Kody, Kalea, and Kulture. On the intro song “Father of 4” featuring Big Rube, Offset slowly raps about each of his four children and also apologizes to them for the lack of a father figure he has been and promises to “keep grindin’” for his kids. Earlier this year, the two were seen together in public and later announced they were back together. He calls himself a “selfish and messed up husband” in order to apologize to his wife for his mistakes. In “Don’t Lose Me,” he raps about his mistakes saying that he broke their promise of being loyal to each other. In late 2018, Offset’s wife, Cardi B, announced the two were splitting after Offset allegedly cheated on her. Offset’s album is the best out of the three new releases, for the meaning portrayed in the songs shows what Offset has done to get to where he is today and what he has gone through, especially in late 2018. The album follows fellow Migo members’ solo albums QUAVO HUNCHO b y Quavo and The Last Rocket by Takeoff. Offset’s Father of 4 holds the most meaning throughout its tracks. All projects made the day memorable for all hip hop fans.
22, three mainstream hip hop artists released new albums: Offset from the rap group Migos released his debut solo album with Father of 4 Gunna released Drip or Drown 2 and Lil Pump released Harverd Dropout. Offset flows with conviction, be it the stark staccato in the chorus of “After Dark” or the lyrical acrobatics in his second verse on “Legacy.” He has an effective formula, and when coupled with Metro Boomin and Southside’s distinct production it yields standout cuts such as “Wild Wild West” and “Clout.” Father of 4’s lack of focus is characteristic of a debut album, but Offset’s ravenous performance, and his dips into introspection, illustrate his potential as a solo artist. On Feb. However, his monstrous performances and his extensive adlib reserve redeem any of these frustrating shortcomings. Instead of diving deeper, he retreats behind mundane rap clichés, muddling Father of 4 with unnecessary clutter. Similar glimpses of sincerity persist throughout “North Star” and “Don’t Lose Me,” but Offset shies away from being too exposed. The album’s title track and opening number strips Offset of his typical superstar musings, and makes for a vulnerable tale about his children, and how his decisions affect them. Later, CeeLo Green jumps in for a featured appearance in “North Star.” Flourishing from a four month-delay and separation from the group's clunky output, Father of 4 bears a heavy Atlanta influence: Dungeon Family’s Big Rube starts the project with one of his famous spoken-word performances. But Offset’s Father of 4 marks a refreshing departure for the Lawrenceville, Georgia-based rapper born Kiari Cephus. After a two-month onslaught of mediocre material from Quavo and Takeoff, the mere thought of another solo effort was exhausting to say the least. Migos, the Atlanta trap outfit that’s best known for turning out hits such as “Bad and Boujee” and “Motorsport,” took a breather after releasing 2018’s Culture II to focus on solo albums from each of the group’s members - Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset.
